Tips to drink more water

Drinking enough water is essential for a healthy mind and body. The advice is to drink 1.5 to 2 litres per day. But not everyone likes to drink water. There are alternatives, of course, such as sodas and fruit juices, but they are chock-full of refined sugars and thus not healthy options. But there are many other ways to make your glass of water more attractive.

Health benefits
Your body consists of the larger part of water. Sufficient hydration is, therefore, important to avoid health problems. A few symptoms of a shortage of water are headaches, fatigue, stomach and bowel disorders, and nausea. They say that drinking lukewarm water with lemon in the morning would have a beneficial effect on your digestion. Additionally, water increases your energy and concentration, it strengthens your immune system, and it offers support to muscles and joints. So it always good to bring a refillable bottle, to drink water at regular times, or to vary with food products that contain a lot of water.

Infused water
Infused water is easy to make and, most of all, it is a natural thirst-quencher. To make this, you can use a jug or a special water bottle with an infuser. Use a few slices cucumber, fresh mint, or a few pieces of orange for a fresh taste. When you really prefer something sweet, you must surely use strawberries and raspberries. An alternative for infused water are infused water cubes. An extra advantage is that fruits and herbs can be kept well for much longer. Fill an ice cube tray half with water and add, for example, pieces of strawberry, other berries, or basil. Freeze for a couple of hours and fill up the holes completely with some more water before you put it back into the freezer.

Even though you may forget to drink 2 litres of water a day, you don't need to get all your fluids purely from water. Your body also absorbs a large part from your food, coffee, and tea. These are important sources your body needs to supply itself with sufficient water.
